  Pakistani deputy speaker attends FPCCI Women Entrepreneurs meeting  
  Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza visited the Federation of Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on August 18 to attend a women entrepreneurs meeting. The meeting was organized by Rizwana Shahid, Chairperson of FPCCI Standing Committee on Women Entrepreneurs and attended by a large group of Pakistani businesswomen.  
 
 
  Bryan Clark: `The IORA will establish a Free Trade Area among member countries\'  
  Australia took over the Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association from India in November 2013 and will keep it until November 2015. As head of the IORA, Australia wants to bring a new impulse to this regional organisation in launching Business facilitation as a strategy for economic development.

  Five finalists for the 5th Asia Pacific Young Entrepreneur Award have been selected by the CACCI Awards Committee based on their average scores in the following criteria: business acumen, involvement in non-profit business organizations and/or involvement in CACCI activities, leadership qualities, and integrity.

  ICC releases Global Survey 2014: Rethinking Trade and Finance  
  The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on July 2 released the Global Survey 2014: Rethinking Trade and Finance, its largest and most comprehensive Global Survey to date – including data from 298 banks across 127 countries. The Survey concludes that the growth rate of international trade has dropped drastically when compared to the years prior to the global financial crisis.  
 
 
 
  Asia Pacific business leaders to urge APEC to intensify work to realize FTAAP  
  Issued by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Asia Pacific business leaders have expressed concern that, unless APEC stays committed to meeting the Bogor Goals of free and open trade by 2020, accelerate infrastructure development and promote innovation, the growth and prosperity ambitions they share in the region would not be realized.  
 
 
  Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2014 envisions year 2020  
  The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will be hosting Sri Lanka Economic Summit on August 5-6, 2014 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo. Now on its 14th consecutive year, the summit will follow the theme “Sri Lanka 2020: Towards the $7000 Per Capita.”  
 
 
 
  KCCI, JCCI hold 8th Korea-Japan CCI Summit Meeting  
  The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) hosted the 8th Korea-Japan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Summit Meeting on July 2 at the Jeju Shilla Hotel. About 20 officers of the chambers of commerce of both countries attended this event.  
 
 
 
  Request for nominations for CACCI Office Bearers 2014-2016  
  The 28th CACCI Conference in Kuala Lumpur on September 17-19 will mark the completion of the two-year term of the incumbent CACCI officers when a new set of office bearers will be elected.  
 
 
  Preparations for CACCI Coffee Table Book underway  
  CACCI President Amb. Benedicto V. Yujuico has been working closely with the CACCI Secretariat and the Manila-based team headed by Mr. Mixi Macan on the preparations of the first-ever CACCI Coffee Table Book that will be launched during the 28th CACCI Conference in Kuala Lumpur in September this year.

  As part of the upcoming 28th CACCI Conference on September 17-19, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) and the CACCI Secretariat have agreed to introduce a special session titled “Discover Business Opportunities through CACCI.”  
 
 
  High level EU delegation holds dialogue with PCCI  
  The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), in its efforts to expand the trade networks for its members, hosted a dinner meeting last June 04, 2014 for the High Level EU Delegation led by Helena Konig, EU director general for trade and head of unit for South and Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The EU Delegation shared their thoughts on how they view the current Philippine readiness for a bilateral free trade agreement with the EU.

  Rural communities in the Philippines continue to benefit from social development organizations such as one spearheaded by Mrs. Teresita M. Yujuico, CACCI Lifetime Special Member and 2012 International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Awardee.  
 
 
  GS1 Mongolia claims third prize  
  GS1 Mongolia took home the third prize in a global competition participated by 110 member organizations. The competition was held in conjunction with the 40th anniversary celebration and annual meeting of the GS1 Global Office on February 17-22 in Brussels, Belgium.

  Asia-Pacific chambers bid to host 10th World Chambers Congress  
  Bidding has officially begun to host the 10th World Chambers Congress in 2017, upon its return to the Asia-Pacific region. Four chambers have submitted their bids to host the next edition of the event: The Indian Chamber of Commerce, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sydney (NSW) Business Chamber and Zhejiang CCPIT/CCOIC (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade/China Chamber of International Commerce) all setting their sights on victory.  
 
 
  Philippine president supports PCCI bid to host World Chambers Congress  
  Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III has expressed government’s support for the bid of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to host the Tenth World Chambers Congress of World Chambers Federation in 2017, according to PCCI President Alfredo S. Yao.  
 
 
 
  Ceylon Chamber of Commerce marks 175 years of service to the nation and businesses  
  The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce celebrated 175 years of service to the Nation and its members on March 25, 2014. This is a landmark achievement for an organization that has its origins in serving the needs of the plantation community but today represents a membership drawn from all business sectors of the country.  
 
 
  CACCI President visits Brunei Darussalam  
  CACCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico led a 12-member delegation on a visit to Brunei Darussalam on March 26-27, 2014 to meet with local businesspeople and key government officials and exchange information on the Sultanate’s current economic conditions.  
 
 
 
  Amb. Yujuico calls on Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou  
  CACCI President Amb. Benedicto V. Yujuico met with Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou during his recent visit to Taipei. In their meeting held March 14, President Ma reiterated the importance of Taiwan’s bid to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
