  CACCI Chamber Leaders Address Key Strategic Issues at Summit Meeting in Taipei  
  Key officers of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) as well as heads and representatives of its Primary Members gathered in Taipei on October 13-14, 2011 to participate in the CACCI Summit Meeting convened by CACCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico to discuss the future directions of the Confederation and other strategic issues. Held at the Palais de Chine Hotel, the Summit Meeting took place in conjunction with the 45th Anniversary of CACCI, which was established in May 1966 in Taipei.  
 
 
  Select Members are Recognized for Their Continued Strong Commitment to CACCI  
  One of the highlights of this year’s Summit Meeting was the presentation of special awards to CACCI members who have demonstrated their strong support for CACCI through their continued participation in CACCI activities over the years. The award ceremonies were held during the Gala Dinner hosted by the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association on October 14, 2011 in Taipei for the participations of the CACCI Summit Meeting. CACCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico formally presented the awards to the special honorees.  
 
 
 
  CACCI Delegates Visit Key Business Associations in Taiwan  
  Overseas participants of the CACCI Summit Meeting held on October 13-14, 2011 in Taipei were given the opportunity to visit two of the most important business associations in Taiwan, namely, the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) and The General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China.  
 
 
  Amb. Yujuico Visits Grouper Farm and Agricultural Institution in Tainan  
  CACCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico on October 18, 2011 visited Sun Young Food Co., Ltd. and Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station in Tainan, Southern Taiwan to learn more about the technology of raising groupers and peanuts. He made the visits the CACCI Summit Meeting, which was held on October 13-14,

  Amb. Yujuico Leads Successful Presidential Visit to Nepal  
  CACCI President Amb. Benedicto Yujuico led another successful Presidential visit last month, this time to Nepal from September 4 to 7, 2011. He was accompanied by a 16-man delegation composed of key chamber officers and leading businessmen from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Russia, and Taiwan.

  Sri Lanka’s northern most peninsula - Jaffna will witness the 3rd consecutive Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF) on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of January 2012 at the former open air stage area adjoining Jaffna Public Library in the heart of the city.

  KCCI Survey Shows Korean Enterprises Only Slightly Affected by Last Year’s Global Economic Recession  
  The top 1000 Korean enterprises have not been greatly affected by last year’s global economic recession due largely to the upswing in exports brought about by the strengthening of international competitiveness.

  Key CACCI officers and heads of the CACCI Primary Members are expected to gather in Taiwan on October 3-4, 2011 to participate in the CACCI Summit Meeting being convened by CACCI President Amb.   CACCI President Amb. Benedicto V. Yujuico on May 23, 2011 visited Liwayway Marketing Corporation (LMC), a manufacturer of the Oishi brand of snack products, at the company’s headquarters in Pasay City, Philippines. He met with Mr. Carlos Chan, the current Chairman of LMC.

  The International Women Entrepreneurial Challenge Awards (IWEC Awards) 2011, an international award for extraordinary women entrepreneurs, will be held on November 13-16, 2011 in Manhattan, New York, USA. Seven outstanding businesswomen representing different countries around the world have been nominated as awardees for this year’s IWEC Awards.  
 
 
 
  Foreign Investors Are Encouraged To Explore the Mongolian Market  
  To encourage foreign investments in Mongolia, the Ulaanbaatar Trade and Economic Representative Office in Taipei, jointly with The Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency of Mongolia, hosted the “Roundtable on Introduction to the Investment Opportunities in Mongolia” on July 11, 2011 at the World Trade Center Exhibition Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. The Roundtable attracted more than 50 participants from the business community in Taiwan.

  The International Investors Conference will be held at the Pearl Continental in Bhurban, Pakistan on December 9-11, 2011.   The 16th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka – Australia – New Zealand Business Council (SLANZBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was held recently. The event was graced by Mme. Sonya Koppe, Deputy High Commissioner for Australia in Sri Lanka. The Council was renamed as the Sri Lanka – Australia - New Zealand Business Council at the Annual General Meeting of the Council held on July 31, 2001.  
   
 
 
  Mr. Harin Malwatte, Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has announced that the CCC will co-host the Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Forum (APTFF) 2012 in Sri Lanka with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for the Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Mr. Malwatte made this announcement at the APTFF held in Seoul, Korea recently.

  As part of CACCI’s effort to further strengthen its Product and Service Councils (PSCs), CACCI is now in the process of beefing up their membership by inviting more of our CACCI constituencies to take an active part in the PSC activities.   CACCI is currently preparing for the next issue of the Tourism Newsletter which we hope to publish shortly and is requesting CACCI members to contribute articles to be included in the Newsletter. Suggested topics include the recent trends and development in the travel and tourism sectors in your respective countries, your country's tourism development plans and tourism sector personalities, among others.  
   
 
 
  The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on 20 April 2011 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) in Jakarta to open the way for closer economic cooperation.

  CACCI is soliciting donations from CACCI members for the Rehabilitation Fund that the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) is setting up to provide support to the growing relief efforts for the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that recently hit Japan. Any amount members can give to alleviate the suffering of those who have been adversely affected by the catastrophe – and the aftershocks that continue to rattle the nation - would be most appreciated.
